• An unpleasant, fishy smell, often noticeable after sex.
• Greyish white vaginal discharge.
• Burning sensation during urination.
• Itching around the outside of the vagina.
• Some women may experience no symptoms.
BV is caused by an imbalance of the naturally occurring bacteria in the vagina, where harmful bacteria overgrow the beneficial ones.
• Multiple or new sexual partners.
• Douching regularly.
• Having a previous episode of BV.
• Notice an unusual vaginal discharge or a strong vaginal odour.
• Have experienced multiple sexual partners or a new partner.
