It can take up to 14 days for your body to build protection after your vaccination, so it’s worth getting vaccinated before flu is circulating widely. No vaccine offers complete protection, but your flu jab can reduce the risk of serious illness.

There’s usually very little preparation needed. Wear clothing that makes it easy to access your upper arm and bring any relevant information about your medicines, allergies or health conditions if requested during booking.

Most people can continue with their usual activities after vaccination. You may have mild soreness in your arm or feel slightly tired afterwards. Your pharmacist will explain any aftercare and when to seek further advice.
